The Wonderful Cross
Tomorrow is Easter Sunday, and those who call themselves christians will flock to their nearest church by droves to go celebrate it, followed by maybe an Easter egg hunt or a bar-b-que or festive meal of sorts.
This Easter weekend has been a bit different for me. We had a worship night at my church on Friday night where we remembered the price paid for on the cross. When we think of Easter in terms of Jesus Christ, we often think of the resurrection, the rising from the grave, the conquering of death and sin. We tend to overlook or not give the attention to that which He did - dies for our sins, died for our pains, our sorrows, our evil, our transgressions, all of our eniquities. On a cross, hung a man who came to live as man, but without sin, to take it all for us so that we may once again come before the Father.
Most Easters I have forgotten about the cross. Still, without it, there would be no resurrection.
Thank you for the cross.

I agree that a lot of people tend to forget about the cross on Easter. I am glad to say that it has almost always been of utmost importance to me even more so than the easter bunny, new clothes, or the egg hunt. However, I think this is mostly due to my parents encouragement and their emphasis on always looking towards God as our Savior with a thankful heart.
It is because of this that I am proud to pass on this love and respect for Christ and the cross to my daughter. I love that she has a deep love for the Lord already. She realizes even now the price that he paid for our sins... past, present and future.
And now, as there has always been, there is a tugging at my heart and a knot in my throat that forms each time I see the cross. It is a great reminder of all that Christ gave for us... for me and for you. Although upon reading and seeing replays of his death I wish that he would not have had to endure that, I am glad that he did. I am glad that he paid and overpaid for our sins so that we could have a life everlasting. I can hardly wait to be in the presence of all that I have never seen or heard of. I can't wait to be in paradise with Him and to be praising Him next to you.
"No eye has fully seen the beauty of the cross."
This single moment in history has more depth and meaning than you and I could ever discuss in a lifetime. It has such a powerful impact in space and time that we can't even begin to fathom it. And yet we know that through it, Jesus restored us to God.
Thank You for the cross.
